UN Warns of Widespread Starvation in Gaza as Half of Population Suffers from Hunger amid Israel-Gaza Conflict.

A UN official says that most people in Gaza cannot afford basic food as it is due to Israeli conflict. Carl Skau is the UN World Food Programme deputy director and he said that delivering supplies to Gaza is really difficult and most people living there only have one meal a day. This became more complicated following October’s fighting that prompted Israel to institute a tight blockade on movement in and out of Gaza.

The UN official spoke about what they witnessed in Gaza, such as empty supermarkets, overcrowded shelters, and hopeless people. The UN team believes that another crossing of another border is required to increase humanitarian assistance. There are some areas where families go without having even a single meal for a day.

The people in areas such as Khan Younis are really suffering. The city is bombarded, and there is a shortage of food, water, and medication. In a hospital there, the head said that they can no longer control how many people come in with injuries. Israel claims that they’re going to the hideouts of Hamas leaders in order to prevent military operations. However, they maintain they must carry on with air strikes for their safety. It is a hard time, and there are many people feeling the effects of the war.
