PPP Raises Questions About NAB’s Purpose, Accuses PML-N of ‘Drawing-Room Politics’

PAKISTAN

On behalf of the PPP, Faisal Karim Kundi questions what business NAB has here all saying it’s always engineered politically.
“Previously, NAB used to file numerous references against Nawaz Sharif, the leader of PML-N and former PM. Today, the very same NAB gives its support for Nawaz’s discharge from these charges,” Kundi said at his press conference today.
Should the public know that NAB was wrong in the past or how can they ensure that NAB is not wrong now? According to him, “NAB is not someone’s estate; it’s an organ of the state”.
According to Kundi, the PPP has rejected calls for limiting the use of social media in the upcoming elections.

He declared that restricting social media would constitute a violation of freedom of speech. People are entitled to express emotions, ideas, and views freely.
The executive president also affirmed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the PPP’s nominee for prime minister with Zardari taking over the mantle of executive power if the party succeeds in winning the elections.

Accordingly, Mr. Husain stated that “Asif Zardari put all such rumors to rest by virtually capping Bilawal’s head after they had just visited Baluchistan.”
When it comes to the PML-N’s policies, Kundi criticized them saying that they were “drawing-room politics”. He wondered why the self-proclaimed biggest party in Pakistan avoids going to elections and engages in a discussion of the two-month delay.

We have protested to the chairman and other Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officers that there must be a fair field for all parties. PPP will insist on free elections on the eighteenth day of February without any excuse to delay them.

On the same note, he stated that war cannot be a justification for postponing general elections noting that elections are organized even during war. He condemned the recent incident of terrorism in DI Khan, highlighting the PPP’s commitment to implementing the National Action Plan.

“If the National Action Plan were enforced today, such incidents might have been prevented. We need to know who allowed these terrorists back into the country and who released them,” he questioned.

Touching on the recent hearing of a presidential reference regarding Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s case verdict, Kundi stressed, “Justice should be served to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Those involved in his execution, be they bureaucrats, judges, or lawyers, should be held accountable,” he concluded.
