Israel Has Killed More Journalists In Gaza Than The Total Number Of Journalists Killed During World War II

WORLD

The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate reports that Israel has claimed the lives of over 100 Palestinian journalists in Gaza in less than 100 days. This shocking toll surpasses the number of journalists killed during the entire six-year duration of World War II, which saw 69 journalists lose their lives.

The data suggests that, on average, Israel has been responsible for more than one Palestinian journalist’s death each day for over three months. The victims, undeterred by personal losses inflicted by Israel, continued to report on the dire situation in their communities. Despite facing the loss of loved ones, city-wide starvation, and the reduction of their neighborhoods to rubble, these journalists aimed to shed light on the horrors Israel was imposing on their communities, hoping that global awareness would prompt intervention.

Tragically, even after nearly 100 days since the commencement of Israel’s assault, the killing of journalists persists. The most recent casualty is Palestinian journalist Hamza Al Dahdouh, the son of Al Jazeera Gaza Bureau Chief Wael Al Dahdouh. This heart-wrenching incident follows the earlier loss of 11 family members, including Hamza’s mother, sister, and brother.

The continuous loss of journalists’ lives underscores the urgent need for intervention to halt the ongoing violence. The call to action urges people to demand a permanent ceasefire from their representatives, emphasizing the necessity to prevent further casualties among journalists and civilians alike.

As the conflict in Gaza shows no signs of abating, the international community is pressed to address the escalating human toll and advocate for a resolution that safeguards the lives of innocent civilians and journalists caught in the crossfire.
