CID Actor Dinesh Phadnis Passes Away at 57, Co-star Dayanand Shetty Confirms

Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his role in the iconic TV series ‘CID,’ has sadly departed at the age of 57, as confirmed by his ‘CID’ co-star, Dayanand Shetty. The actor, who had been battling extensive liver damage, passed away on December 5 at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai, where he had been on ventilator support.

Reports indicate that Dinesh Phadnis succumbed to multiple organ failure at 12:08 am. The actor had been taken off the ventilator on the preceding night.

The health struggle began on December 1 when Dinesh was admitted to Tunga Hospital. Dayanand Shetty, who shared the screen with Phadnis in ‘CID,’ had been providing regular updates on the actor’s health throughout this period.

Dinesh Phadnis gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Fredericks in ‘CID,’ dedicating nearly two decades to the long-running series led by actor Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman. Premiering in 1998, ‘CID’ stood as one of India’s longest-running television shows. Apart from his ‘CID’ role, Phadnis made a cameo appearance in the popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’

The untimely demise of Dinesh Phadnis marks a significant loss for the entertainment industry, and fans mourn the passing of the talented actor who left an indelible mark on Indian television.
