In a highly anticipated clash, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are set to kick off their T20 World Cup journey on June 9 in New York, marking a historic moment for cricket enthusiasts. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies from June 1-29.

The tournament commences with the hosts, the United States, taking on Canada in Dallas, building excitement for a month-long cricketing extravaganza. The marquee India-Pakistan encounter will unfold in a specially constructed 34,000-seat modular stadium, hosting a total of eight matches.

With a record 20 teams divided into four groups, the T20 World Cup promises a thrilling competition, featuring 55 games. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight round. Group matches will be held in Dallas, Florida, and New York, while the Super Eight, semi-finals, and the final will captivate fans in the West Indies, culminating in Barbados on June 29.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the sport, bringing together teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia, East-Asia Pacific, and Europe. The schedule release six months ahead of the tournament is seen as a significant milestone, providing a roadmap for teams, fans, and cricket enthusiasts globally.

Defending champions England find themselves in the same group as Australia, setting the stage for an intense showdown on June 8 in Barbados. The T20 World Cup 2024 aims to captivate cricket fans worldwide, offering an unparalleled spectacle of talent and competition.
