However, Robert Lewandowski swiftly equalized for Barcelona just seven minutes later, nodding in a goal from a well-executed corner.

Girona refused to be deterred and reestablished their advantage before halftime, courtesy of a goal from Miguel Gutiérrez. The scoreline stood at 2-1 in favor of Girona as the teams entered the second half. The match intensified as it progressed, and in the 80th minute, Valery Fernández extended Girona’s lead to 3-1, putting them in a commanding position. Despite facing a deficit, Barcelona fought back with determination, and Ilkay Gündogan managed to pull a goal back for his team.

With renewed hope, Barcelona pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Girona defended resolutely. In the dying moments of the match, Girona dealt a final blow to Barcelona’s aspirations as Cristhian Stuani struck in stoppage time, securing a 4-2 victory and sealing an impressive performance for his team.

As a result of this remarkable win, Girona now sit at the summit of the La Liga table, amassing an impressive 41 points from 16 games. Meanwhile, Barcelona find themselves in fourth place, with 34 points, level with the team in third position.
