Liverpool Clinches Thrilling 4-3 Victory Over Fulham with Late Double Strike

SPORTS

Liverpool secured a dramatic 4-3 win over Fulham, sealing the victory with two late goals scored just a minute apart. Trent Alexander-Arnold emerged as the hero, netting the decisive winner in the 88th minute.

Wataru Endo ignited the late-game drama by scoring in the 87th minute, setting the stage for the dramatic turnaround. Alexis Mac Allister marked his debut with a goal, and a spectacular own goal by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Alexander-Arnold’s free kick added to Liverpool’s tally. The win propelled Jurgen Klopp’s team into second place in the standings with 31 points.

Reflecting on the intense match, Trent Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports, “It’s mental, to be honest. A game of massive ups and downs. Leading, then getting clawed back twice, then obviously losing with about five minutes to go, getting the equalizer, and then getting the winner. It was an unbelievable game, full of emotion. Just very, very happy to get the win and be able to get over the line.”

Liverpool now sits just two points behind league leaders Arsenal, with Manchester City in third place with 29 points. Fulham occupies the 14th position.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game with so many beautiful goals,” said a grinning Jurgen Klopp in a post-match interview with Sky Sports. He acknowledged Liverpool’s incredible goals but also highlighted the team’s vulnerabilities, stating, “We scored incredible goals today, but we gave it nearly away, and we have to say that as well.”

Fulham posed a serious threat to Liverpool’s unbeaten streak at Anfield, but Mohamed Salah’s setup for Wataru Endo’s long-range goal kept Liverpool in contention. The late-game heroics unfolded when Alexander-Arnold, sprinting back to the center circle, connected with Kostas Tsimikas’s header to fire home the winner from the edge of the box.

“Just kind of anticipated it, saw it was coming to the back post,” Alexander-Arnold explained. “I thought just try and get on target, found its way to the back of the net. You can see by the celebration how much it meant.”

The victory came a week after Alexander-Arnold’s 80th-minute goal ended Manchester City’s 23-match winning streak with a 1-1 draw. Harry Wilson, Kenny Tete, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored for Fulham, showcasing their resilience in twice equalizing from a goal behind. Alexander-Arnold, initially credited with Liverpool’s first goal from a superb free kick, continued to shine as Liverpool’s key playmaker.

Salah’s early goal was disallowed by VAR due to Luis Diaz being offside, and the first half witnessed a delay after Bernd Leno took a knee to the head, although he remained in the game with his head heavily bandaged.
