PAKISTAN

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, during a visit to the Business Facilitation Centre in Lahore, addressed the misrepresentation of the situation concerning Baloch families, emphasizing that the portrayal did not align with the actual support of Balochs for Pakistan.

He highlighted the involvement of terrorists and armed militants in the targeted killings of various individuals in Balochistan, including professionals such as doctors, lawyers, and teachers. Kakar underscored the government’s determination to confront these elements, stressing that they would not be permitted to continue their violence unchecked.

Expressing disappointment at the media’s criticism, Kakar clarified the government’s stance, refuting any conflict with Baloch families and attributing the confusion to deliberate attempts to distort the narrative. He also pointed out the exaggeration of the issue, mentioning that the terrorists were receiving funding from India’s intelligence agency, RAW, to perpetrate violence in the province.

Furthermore, Kakar addressed concerns about the slow progress in convicting individuals involved in terrorism-related activities, stressing the need for improvements in the country’s criminal justice system. He also assured that there were no restrictions on freedom of expression.

Responding to questions about a reported firing incident involving the vehicles of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Amir of JUI-F, in DI Khan, Kakar expressed concern and emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing security threats in the southern parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with all available resources.

Lastly, the caretaker prime minister affirmed the government’s dedication to utilizing all resources and security measures to ensure peaceful elections on the scheduled date, expressing optimism about the government’s success in this endeavor.
