PSL 9 to Kick Off on Feb 17, Lahore to Host Opener

The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for an exciting kickoff on February 17, as per the official schedule released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday. The opening match will feature a clash between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, setting the stage for a thrilling tournament.

The PSL 2024 will unfold across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The culmination of the six-team tournament is scheduled to take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18, promising cricket enthusiasts an exhilarating finale.

Zaka Ashraf, chairman of the PCB’s Management Committee, highlighted the decision to spread the marquee event across multiple cities as “a testament to our commitment to bring top-notch cricket to fans across the country.” Ashraf expressed belief that hosting matches in different venues not only adds excitement for fans but also promotes cricket at the grassroots level.

According to the schedule, Karachi will be the primary host with 11 matches, including the qualifier, two eliminators, and the final. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium will each host nine matches, while Multan will witness five matches.

The highly anticipated clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings is set for February 24, with Gaddafi Stadium hosting the contest. The National Bank Stadium will witness another face-off between Qalandars and Kings on March 9.

Each team, including Kings, Qalandars, Sultans, and United, will play five matches at their home grounds. Peshawar Zalmi is scheduled for four matches at Pindi Cricket Stadium, and Quetta Gladiators will play three matches each in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with one match at the Multan Cricket Stadium against Sultans on February 25.

The tournament will be divided into two legs, with Multan Cricket Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium hosting 14 matches from February 17-27. The league will then move to Pindi Cricket Stadium and National Bank Stadium, featuring 16 matches from February 28 to March 12. The final phase will see the tournament returning to Karachi entirely for the playoffs.

The PSL 2024 promises a thrilling competition, and fans are eagerly anticipating the action-packed matches that will unfold over the coming weeks.
