ENTERTAINMENT

The controversial crime thriller ‘Animal,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Ranbir Kapoor in a stellar role, continues its box office dominance, inching closer to the Rs 250 crore mark in India on its fifth day. With global ambitions, the film eyes a substantial gross of Rs 450 crore globally. This remarkable performance cements ‘Animal’ as Ranbir Kapoor’s second highest-grossing film, trailing ‘Sanju’ and surpassing ‘Brahmastra.’

According to Comscore, ‘Animal’ claimed the top spot worldwide during its opening weekend, outshining films like ‘Napoleon’ and ‘The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,’ a Hunger Games prequel. Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that ‘Animal’ has already secured pre-sold tickets worth Rs 10 crore for its fifth day, with early afternoon projections estimating Tuesday’s figures to reach around Rs 8 crore.

Despite its extended runtime, an A rating, and competition from ‘Sam Bahadur,’ ‘Animal’ outperformed recent hits like ‘Jawan,’ ‘Pathaan,’ and ‘Gadar 2’ on its fourth day, securing the third spot in the all-time Monday rankings, following ‘Tiger 3’ and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.’ Remarkably, ‘Tiger 3’ had a Sunday opening, making Monday only its second day of release.

‘Animal’ maintains its momentum, triumphing over challenges and captivating audiences, setting the stage for a global triumph as it aims to surpass the legacy of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanju.’

In a sensational debut week, ‘Animal’ is poised to effortlessly cross the coveted Rs 500 crore milestone, positioning itself to challenge the lifetime earnings of Ranbir Kapoor’s iconic ‘Sanju.’ Ranbir Kapoor, navigating the highs and lows of his post-pandemic career, witnesses ‘Animal’ emerge as a triumphant follow-up to the disappointing performance of ‘Shamshera.’

Despite grappling with substantial budgets, ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ declared semi-hits, showcasing Ranbir’s resilience and enduring appeal. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for consistent hits accompanied by controversy, continues his winning streak with ‘Animal,’ akin to his earlier works ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh.’ The film, critiqued for its perceived celebration of toxic masculinity, faces controversy yet continues to captivate audiences.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming projects include directing a film starring Prabhas, followed by a collaboration with Allu Arjun. Moreover, a subtle hint at a ‘Animal’ sequel through a post-credit scene adds anticipation to the film’s enduring success. ‘Animal’ strides confidently into its debut week, eyeing a global triumph and an enduring legacy in the realm of Indian cinema.
