PAKISTAN

Shabbir Sharif was born on 28 April 1943 to a Punjabi family in the Gujrat district. During the 1971 war, Major Shabbir Sharif received orders to seize a strategically important high ground near the Sulemanki Headworks. The area was heavily defended by Indian infantry, along with the support of a squadron of tanks. Furthermore, he and his men bravely repelled counter-attacks from two enemy battalions.

The Inter-Services Public Relations acknowledged Major Shabbir Sharif’s heroic actions not only in 1971 but also in 1965, emphasizing that it is not merely numerical superiority but rather unwavering faith, dedication, and bravery in the face of adversity that leads nations to triumph. It is important to honor and remember these fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our motherland. The nation takes immense pride in its brave and gallant sons. This statement concludes the tribute by the ISPR.
