Two Palestinian Youths Killed in Restricted Zone by Israeli Forces

WORLD

Two Palestinian youths lost their lives earlier today on a side street of central Jenin’s main thoroughfare, an area theoretically designated as off-limits to the Israeli military, as it falls under the sole control of the Palestinian Authority. An official from the Palestinian Red Crescent provided details of the incident to AFP.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, eight-year-old Adam al-Ghul and 15-year-old Bassem Abu el-Wafa fell victim to gunfire from the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin. The ministry issued a statement confirming the tragic deaths, attributing them to bullets fired by the occupier.

CCTV footage, widely circulated online and on television news, captures the heart-wrenching moments. One video shows an eight-year-old boy struck by a bullet, collapsing in the street, prompting other children to flee in fear. Another sequence depicts a teenager being hit by gunfire, falling to the ground, and appearing to call for help as additional shots hit the surrounding area, causing people to scramble for cover.

The footage further reveals the teenager struggling on the ground in apparent agony for at least half a minute.

When questioned about the incident by AFP, the Israeli army responded by stating that it is currently “verifying” the information, leaving the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths under investigation.
