Two Soldiers Martyred in North Waziristan IED Blast

PAKISTAN

Two soldiers lost their lives when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a security forces convoy in the Razmak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, as confirmed by the military’s media affairs wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The fallen soldiers were identified as 33-year-old Lance Naik Ehsan Badshah and 30-year-old Lance Naik Sajid Hussain. In response to the attack, the ISPR announced the initiation of a sanitization operation to eliminate any terrorists in the area. The ISPR reiterated the security forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism, emphasizing the resilience displayed by brave soldiers.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar condemned the incident, extending condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the ongoing war against terrorism, emphasizing the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies for the nation’s survival.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs, stating, “The sacrifices of these martyrs strengthen our determination to rid the nation of terrorism.” PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the attack, offering condolences to the heirs of the soldiers.

In a separate development, two people were killed, and two others were injured in two blasts in KP’s Bajaur. The incidents occurred in Dama Dola and Manizo areas, with the explosions targeting individuals affiliated with the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and a man traveling in a car, respectively.

The surge in terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in recent months has raised concerns, particularly after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government last year. The data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies revealed a significant increase in militant attacks, reaching the highest monthly tally in almost nine years in August. The nation remains steadfast in its resolve to counteract these threats and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
